John's Story
For over 24 years, I have lived in the same City of Coppell, volunteered in this same district, and raised four children through the same Coppell ISD. I am invested and committed to District 115, and I would be honored to continue to serve as the State Representative.
Throughout my life, one of the most important lessons I have learned is that everybody has a story, and I'd like to share mine with you.

I understand firsthand the unique freedoms and opportunities our country has to offer. It’s what my family came to America for, it’s what I fought to protect in the Navy, and it’s what I am defending as your next State Representative for District 115.
At the age of 10 my family immigrated from South Korea to Guam, where I earned an education at John F. Kennedy High School. That’s when I answered the call to duty and joined the United States Navy at age 17. Serving two tours of duty on the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy, I was on the nuclear weapons team, working as an aviation machinist and part of the flight preparation crew. I was at the center of the conflict between the U.S. and the Gaddafi regime when the dictator himself swore to sink the carrier I was stationed on. I was honorably discharged in 1990 and went on to meet and marry the love of my life, Judy. We struggled to make ends meet as we raised our family of four children, but our faith in God and hard work ethic pulled us through

I have been active in our community for the last two decades, founding a nonprofit community organization, the Korean American Coalition DFW Chapter (KAC-DFW), helping seniors with free citizenship application assistance. I have also been active in various organizations such as Coppell Citizen’s Police Academy, Coppell City Manager’s Advisory Group, Korean Society of Dallas, Coppell Lions Club, New Song Church, and more.
I proudly served the people of Coppell on the City Council since 2020 and as Mayor Pro Tem. My time on the Council was marked by fiscal responsibility, transparency, and robust economic development.
Now I am ready to take my experience to serve our community in the Texas House. I will be the fighter we need in the legislature, increasing funding for public education, reducing the burden of inflation, lowering taxes, and supporting our first responders. No one will work harder than me to give our community a brighter future!
This is my story, and I look forward to one day hearing yours!
